Parents As Teachers

The Parents as Teachers approach is to Partner, Facilitate, and Reflect.

"All children will learn, grow, and develop to realize their full potential."

Parents as Teachers 2023-2024 School Year.

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a parent education program offered by your local school district, serving families who are expecting a child or have children under the age of kindergarten entry. A trained parent educator provides home visits with families to promote early learning, knowledge and understanding of child development and assist in building a partnership between families, schools and community resources.

The Parents as Teachers program is designed to offer developmental information and support to all parents of infants and young children. The program works with families from prenatal, newborn to kindergarten. The goal of the program is to help parents give their child the best possible start in life. All young children and their families deserve the same opportunities to succeed, regardless of any demographic, geographic, and economic considerations.

Personal Visit: During a personal visit, the parent educator shares information on child development and brings an age-appropriate activity for you and your child to do together. The parent educator will also observe your child's play and development. Usually visits are conducted at your home, making it convenient and safe for small children. However visits may be at the Parents as Teachers room or another place of your choosing. Visits typically last about an hour.

Important Please Read: Due to the pandemic and health concerns for our families and educators, Home Visits through PAT, presently are only offered virtually.
