New State Law on Cell Phones in Schools
Effective for the 2025-26 school year, a new Missouri law bans student cell phone use during the school day in all K–12 public and charter schools. The law aims to reduce distractions, improve safety, and support student mental health.
North Daviess R-III has updated our policies to be in compliance with this law. Our policy requires all student phones and personal electronics to be powered off and locked in school-issued NuKase cases from the first bell to dismissal. This includes class time, lunch, passing periods, and restrooms.
Use of phones, smartwatches, earbuds, or similar devices is not allowed during the instructional day. Students needing to contact home may use the office phone. Parents should call the school if they need to reach their child.
Violations will result in disciplinary action as outlined in our student handbook.

Reminder, Monday, 5/12/25 is North Daviess R3 Field Day. All students are welcome to participate. Permission slips have been sent home & should be returned by Monday, 5/12/25. The students will be OUTSIDE for a large portion of the day. Please send sunscreen for your student if you choose. Hats may be worn OUTSIDE ONLY.
